Description: Fortune Bamboo is similar to Fountain bamboo and native to Southwest China. This bamboo is a very hardy clumping type with a thick and dense clump. This bamboo is ideal for an effective hedge or screen. It can be pruned to any height and does exceptionally well in our cooler climate of Victoria. Fortune bamboo also looks excellent within a Japanese/Oriental inspired garden. On hot summer days, the foliage rolls up to protect itself. Do not panic because the foliage opens up as the sun moves on. Prefers the morning sun but will tolerate our summer sun. To cool it down, don’t forget to give it a good drink on hot summer days, mainly the foliage. It can be kept indoors within a pot with filtered sunlight.
