Ghost Bamboo
Botanical Name: Dendrocalamus minor amoenus
Description: Native to Southern China and commonly known as White Ghost Bamboo, with many attractive features. New Culms (canes) form a white powder that turns light green and yellow with dark stripes with age. It has large pendulous green leaves that hang downwards and are free to swing with the breeze. Quick growing and very hardy canes form a vase shape with a tight clump. Ghost bamboo makes a lovely ornament in any garden.

- Ghost Bamboo is a reasonably rapid growing bamboo and can reach full height in about 2 to 3 years depending on conditions and the size of the purchased pot.
- Water well and keep moist when planting until well established
- Keep well mulched
- Loves a drink including a good rainfall
- Fairly drought and cold tolerant once established.
- It can be pruned to any height and pleached (remove the lower leaves).
- Not suitable for small areas due to its clump size (although the clump size can be controlled using a root barrier).
- Not suited to pots or planters if you are trying to create a screen.
- Fertilise regularly to promote vigorous growth and more vibrant leaves.
