Golden Buddha’s Belly Bamboo
Botanical Name: Bambusa ventricosa kimmei
Description: Native to Southern China, Golden Buddha’s Belly bamboo is similar to Buddha’s Belly but has gold culms with green striations. Golden Buddha’s Belly has been known to swell the culms at the internodes due to high summery heat. This is quite rare but has been known to occur. Buddha’s Belly bamboo can also have occasional variegated leaves and produces high-quality wood.

Golden Buddha’s Belly Gallery
Care instructions:
- Golden Buddha’s Belly is a relatively rapid growing bamboo and can reach full height in about 2 to 3 years, depending on conditions and the size of the purchased pot.
- Water well and keep moist when planting until well established
- Keep well mulched
- Loves a drink including a good rainfall
- Fairly drought and cold tolerant once established.
- It can be pruned to any height and pleached (remove the lower leaves).
- Not suitable for small areas due to its clump size (although the clump size can be controlled using a root barrier).
- Fertilise regularly to promote vigorous growth and more vibrant leaves.
