Golden Pygmy Bamboo
Botanical Name: Pieioblastus viridistriatus chrysophyllus
Description: Native to Japan, Golden Pygmy Bamboo has golden yellow and lime green leaves. They look great planted under trees, as a border and ground cover. It Prefers a shaded area. Keep moist and fertilise regularly to keep its beautiful lime colour. The underneath surface of the leaves is covered with fine hairs, which is beneficial resistance to bamboo mites. These look great in any Japanese inspired garden and courtyards.

- Golden Pygmy bamboo is a relatively rapid growing bamboo and can reach full height in about 1 to 2 years depending on conditions and the purchase size of the pot.
- The best position to plant is in the Morning sun to part shade or filtered light.
- Water well and keep moist when planting until well established
- Keep well mulched
- Loves a drink including a good rainfall
- It needs to be kept moist primarily through the growing season.
- Cut back in early spring to promote new foliage. Remove weak, dead, damaged or spindly stems.
- Golden Pygmy likes an excellent prune to any height.
- It is suited for pots and planters.
- Suited as a ground cover over rocky gardens.
- Fertilise regularly to promote vigorous growth and more vibrant leaves.
