Gracilis Bamboo (Slender Weavers)
Botanical Name: Bambusa textilis var. gracilis
Description: Native to China, Gracilis /Slender Weavers Bamboo is the undisputed bamboo king of all bamboos. Gracilis is one of our most popular varieties. It is very similar to Bambusa textilis var. It has a thinner and more slender cane profile with small evergreen leaves. Gracilis is a clumping bamboo with a very tight upright clump habit. Due to its size, it is perfect for screening out neighbouring buildings or other non-desirable views. This bamboo can also be ideal for soil stability and erosion control. Gracilis bamboo can be used as a hedge and pruned to any height. If used as a hedge, the thickness of its growth provides a great noise or wind barrier. Plant along your driveway to make a perfect living green fence. It can grow in a 500mm wide garden bed, making it ideal for planting the blind side of your home. Gracilis is an elegant bamboo, especially when pleached.

- Gracilis / Slender Weavers bamboo is a rapidly growing bamboo and can reach full height in about 2 to 3 years, depending on the size of the purchased pot.
- Water well and keep moist when planting until well established
- Love's a drink including a good rainfall
- It can be pruned to any height and pleached (remove the lower leaves).
- Keep well mulched
- Fertilise regularly to promote vigorous growth and more vibrant leaves,
- Fairly drought and cold tolerant once established.
- Not suited long-term to small pots or small planter boxes.
- We recommend large pots or fairly wide planters for the longer term or raise garden beds.
