Mexican Weeping Bamboo
Botanical Name: Otatea acuminata aztecorum
Mexican Weeping Bamboo is, as you can imagine by its common name, native to provinces in Mexico. It is a very rare and beautiful bamboo with black culms if grown in full sun. It has style and graceful fine pencil-thin canes and soft, delicate textured weeping foliage. Easy to grow and very hardy as this plant loves full sun and hot temperatures. A true collector’s piece.

- Mexican Weeping Bamboo is a relatively rapid growing bamboo and can reach full height in about three years depending on conditions and the size of the purchased pot.
- It requires excellent drainage but tolerates salt air, alkalinity, and clay soils.
