Description: Native to China, Silky weavers bamboo is a cold-hardy clumping type of bamboo. Its botanical name is Bambusa textilis var glabra, more commonly known as Silky weavers bamboo. It is similar to the more popular Gracilis; however, this cultivar features smooth culms and culm sheaths. It is a slightly open clump and creates a more vertical “V” shape. Like most Bambusa textilis, this makes a beautiful specimen as a screen or a stand-alone bamboo. Due to Silky weaver size is perfect for multi-story screening/blocking or soil stability and erosion control. In addition, this bamboo can be used as a hedge as it can be pruned to any height. Silky Weavers bamboo can also look great pleached, meaning that the leaves are removed from the base of the bamboo revealing the bare canes. Glabra/Silky weaver bamboo is undoubtedly an attractive and distinctive bamboo.
