Native to Japan, Variegated Golden Pygmy Bamboo is the same as Golden Pygmy but has magnificent variegated leaves. The soft leaves have yellow and green stripes and are about 20cm long. Underneath the leaves, they are covered with fine hairs. It is a ground cover bamboo that looks its best in spring and early summer. It is good to cut this back in early spring, ready for its best seasons with tremendous new growth. Looks at home in a Japanese inspired garden.
